Costa Rica – New Year’s Jungle Retreat at Navina Costa Rica
Celebrate the New Year with the MR community in the heart of the Costa Rican jungle. This 7 day retreat is the perfect way to enjoy the holiday – time to slow down, reflect and recalibrate as we head into 2019.
Immerse yourself in the rhythm of the wild jungle as we dive deep into daily movement and meditative practice in a calm, safe, and supportive space to bring you back to a state of balanced health and vitality.
Adam and Andrew will be teaching functional flow yoga, using a combination of yoga asana, functional strength training, and yoga tune up (self massage ball rolling techniques) as well as restorative yoga and yoga nidra.
Drew Hume founder of Navina will treat us to a Thai Massage workshop, teaching us to refine our touch vocabulary.
Time on retreat helps to reconnect you to yourself, or to build a deeper connection to your partner or friend, or if you’re traveling solo, you’ll have the chance to meet a group of amazing like-minded men and even make new friends for life.
In this retreat we aim to go on a digital detox, leaving behind mental and physical tensions associated with compulsive use of technology and attempt to minimize digital stimulation.
Navina Costa Rica is an incredible rustic ‘off the beaten path’ experience with breathtaking views of the pristine, untouched nature. Enjoy hikes to local waterfalls, an abundance of wildlife, and the nearby beach as you replenish your reserves of vital energy.

This stunning retreat centre is located in the mountains near Palmar Sur at the beginning of the Osa Peninsula. It gives the perfect blend of mountain air, rainforest and close beach access. It consistently provides us with a beautiful temperature, a few degrees less than on the beach, which we are about a 15-minute drive away from. We also have walking access to 2 stunning waterfalls, with the closest being about 10 minutes walk through the jungle. When you stay with us we make it our mission to take the best possible care of you so that you can fully immerse in this natural and cultural experience.
Founder and director of Navina Thai Yoga Therapy and Navina Costa Rica, believes that touch has the power to communicate all the things that words aren’t good at, and yet often times we need to re-learn this idea of maintaining a meaningful touch-vocabulary.
Part of my work is aimed at educating people on human biology and the physical forms of Thai Massage and another, larger dream of mine is to ensure that as a culture, we become more touch-literate. I hope to dissolve the culturally engrained habits that have been spread out of the fear of touch. Touch-aversion goes against our deepest biological needs and so it continues to take us further and further out of balance. With greater education and with greater skill in compassionate touch we can return to a far healthier state, and a far more interconnected tribe.
The accommodations are custom-built tents, but it’s closer to “glamping” than camping. Each tent is on a raised platform with a permanent, protective roof over it, and the tents each have two single beds (or a single and double) in them with enough room for spreading out and making yourself at home as well as boasting stunning jungle views. Our mornings are often started by the calls of our local howler monkeys, and our nights are ushered in by a cool breeze, fireflies and the soft hum of the jungle.
A meeting place for men of all walks of life to practice and connect more fully to their truth in the support of a mindful community.
